Umbrella Insurance

Umbrella insurance is extra insurance that provides protection beyond existing limits and coverages of other policies.

Umbrella insurance provides coverage for claims that may be excluded by other liability policies including claims like false arrest, libel, slander, and liability coverage on rental units you own.

Is your financial security at risk?

Would your liability insurance you currently have in place through your automobile, homeowners, or other personal insurance policies be enough to cover you in the event of a huge loss?  Possibly not, considering the size and frequency of lawsuits have increased dramatically over the past few decades.

You could be at risk of losing everything you have worked so hard for over the years – your home, cars, and even your future income!  But if you have a Personal Umbrella Policy you can rest easy knowing that you are covered for an additional limit of $1,000,000 or more!

Understanding Umbrella Insurance

How does a Personal Umbrella policy work with your other policies to provide additional coverage?

Umbrella Insurance provides a large additional layer of liability coverage over what you already have from your automobile, homeowners, boat or other personal insurance policies.  It also provides coverages not usually included in your basic policies.

Most Umbrella policies are written in understandable “easy to read” language.  It provides you, your spouse, children and relatives living with you $1 million or more in protection for covered losses.  By accepting a Personal Umbrella policy you agree to maintain certain limits of coverage under your basic liability insurance policies. How does this coverage broaden the protection you now have under your basic liability insurance  policies? It provides larger limits ranging from $1 million to $5 million.

It provides coverage for libel, slander, false arrest, false imprisonment, wrongful eviction, violation of another person’s privacy rights, and wrongful detention coverages usually not available under your basic insurance.

It provides worldwide liability coverage for personal liability and operation of automobiles and watercraft.

Will the Personal Umbrella policy cover legal fees if you are sued?

On covered losses the Personal Umbrella policy not only pays damages resulting from judgments where you are found legally liable, but it also pays the costs of your legal defense.  This additional coverage could save you thousands of dollars in legal defense fees.

How much with this extra protection cost:For coverage that provides $1 million or more in protection.  A Personal Umbrella policy is reasonably priced.  The costs depends on the number of automobiles, residences, or boats you own, as well as other variables based upon your individual circumstances.
